My hope is that my art will help to remind people of the beauty in nature, and inspire an awareness that everything in nature is connected, and needs to be protected and preserved. I work primarily in pastels, on velour paper or suede mat board, building up layers of transparent color, which give my paintings a soft, luminous quality. I choose to specialize in animal and nature subjects, for those are the subjects that I am passionate about. I have found pastels to be a unique combination of drawing and painting. I love to draw and I love subtle color. Pastels allow me to enjoy both at the same time.
